Festive pottery water jug with painted floral decoration in tubeline pattern, designed by Edith Gater for Royal Cauldon potteries; vintage English Art Deco late 1930s. This impressive jug is ideal to use for summer flower displays.

Art Deco style was a main step towards the modern product design, as we know it today. It replaced the nature inspired Art Nouveau and instead drew its inspiration from the age of machinery, the automobile, the moving pictures and the whole industrial progress in general; hence the prevalence of geometric forms in Art Deco items.

Pottery care
Porcelain, ironstone and pottery are tough materials. Wash all ceramics normally in a warm water with a sponge. Be gentle with overglaze decorations.
