Brass fire starter jug

Rustic brass fire starter jug of a tapered shape with a whale tail handle, of the Arts & Crafts style, by Cape Cod Shop; antique American circa 1900. The jug would have been filled with a flammable oil; a stick with a pumice stone is dipped into the jug to soak the oil and then used to light the fireplace fire.

How to care
After washing a brass made item, dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth to avoid water stains on the surface. They are hard to remove and unsightly.

Brass can be polished to a brilliant gold colour using a brass polish and a cloth; for tough tarnish use fine steel wool; buff for the best results.
