Colourful Art Deco ceramic storage jar with chromed handle, decorated with moulded and painted flowers and trees; antique English, 1930s.
Condition: Antique — surface wear on the handle, one bolt replaced
Items in the Art Deco style were often produced using new materials of the period, such as stainless steel, aluminium and Bakelite — an early type of plastic. Bold colours were used to produce attractive design by creating strong contrasts.

How to care
Avoid washing gilded and overglaze painted ceramics in a dishwasher. Tiny sand particles in the water will eventually make the decoration look dull.
How to care
Porcelain, ironstone and pottery are tough materials. Wash all ceramics normally in a warm water with a sponge. Be gentle with overglaze decorations.
