Spectacular carafe in blown glass of a globular shape, set with a sterling silver collar with lid and handle, of the Arts & Crafts style, by John Grinsell & Sons. Ideal for serving wine, port and sherry; antique English, hallmarked for London 1895.

Arts & Crafts was one of the most important styles in the late Victorian period. Among other sources, the style drew its inspiration from the mythology of the British Isles and from the fabulous legends about king Arthur. The products were designed to a high standard, using traditional materials and techniques.

How to care
Clean glass jugs, wine decanters and claret jugs immediately after use - that way it is easy to remove the stains before they set onto the glass surface.
How to care
Decanters, wine carafes and narrow jugs can be cleaned using rock salt or rice and vinegar. Salt acts as an abrasive. Rinse well and let it dry thoroughly.

Traditionally, tough wine stains inside glass decanters can be removed by rolling buckshot; nowadays they are called decanter cleaning rolling balls.
