Impressive Egyptian Revival ceramic gravy tureen with lid, on platter and with a ladle, black and white decoration and gilded, Cairo pattern; antique English early 1900s.
Condition: fine, minor surface wear
The most popular decorative elements used in the Egyptian Revival style are lotus flowers and plants and papyrus columns, a well as sphinxes, pharaohs masks and animals. Some more elaborate products may entirely copy the shape and design of an ancient Egyptian item.
